When a woman is found brutally murdered on Austin's lakeside hike-and-bike trail, investigative reporter Bailey Rhoads turns up on the scene demanding access and answers. She tries to pry information out of the lead detective, Jacob Merritt.

But this case is unlike any he's ever seen, and nothing adds up.

Bailey has a hunch the victim wasn't who she claimed to be and believes this mugging-turned-murder could have been a targeted hit.

As a ruthless hit man's mission becomes clear, Bailey and Jacob must embark on a desperate search to locate the next target before the clock ticks down on this lethal game of hide and seek

Thank you, Goodreads and Berkley Publishing Group for the chance to read Hidden #1 The Texas Murder File!

This was a nice paced mystery suspense and romance. There were spots where I found myself at the edge of my seat and other times not so much. But I will say that I was on the edge of my seat more then I was not. This was a good book to kick off a new series. A good starting point to show use what we can expect in the future with this series. I look forward to the next book to come. Happy reading everyone!

This was a fast, entertaining read. Someone recommended this series to me, tho I don’t remember who.

I enjoyed the partnership of the two main characters, and the little romance on the side. BUT the characters weren’t fleshed out enough for me and the ‘I love you’ wasn’t 100 percent believable. Will I continue in this series… most likely, because I just want to see if it gets better!

Also, the reporter got a lot of things handed to her a bit too conveniently, to the point where it felt a tad unbelievable.

A woman is brutally murdered on a running-and-bike trail in Austin and no one is exactly sure why. Bailey Rhoads, an investigative reporter is assigned to the story and she is demanding to know what the cops know. She is trying to get information out of the lead detective Jacob Merritt, but he is a closed book. He doesn't give away information, but this case is something new and nothing really adds up. That is until Bailey and his ex starts putting the pieces together for him.

As Bailey finds out the victim is part of WITSEC something just doesn't add up. IN turn she is lead to a local tech company where she is able to find all of her answers and uncover something even more disturbing and could be deadly if the technology falls into the wrong hands.

All during the investigation Bailey and Jacob start to fall for each other but try to keep their relationship professional which of course doesn't work out well for them. Their lives are forever changed after they track down the next target and Bailey becomes a target for a different reason.

Laura Griffin has the ability to take a terrible occurrence and turn it into a story that keeps you enamored, has you hoping the bad guys are brought to justice, and the main characters get their HEA. Hidden is no different I had no idea who the bad guy was going to be or if there was more than one, but I did get bad feelings about different characters that left me wondering, and I was wrong, my mind should have gone in a different direction. There was one characteristic that left me a little on edge, there was a woman local to me that was kidnapped and murdered after running on a trail. The difference was, she was running late at night and but they found her body in the lake as well. I lived in the same apartment complex as her at the time. I'm not sure if that case was solved but it did seem similiar to me. But like usual another great read!!

Hidden (The Texas Murder Files #1)
By Laura Griffin, narrated by Teri Clark Linden

Investigative reporter Bailey Rhoads has made a name for herself. She's pushy, can be sneaky with how she gets her stories, and has some very good work behind her. When she meets Detective Jacob Merritt, lead detective on the case of a murder that has just happened, he is familiar with her work, especially because Bailey has investigated corruption in the police department. He's not about to give anything away to her, no matter how hard she goes at him.

But nothing will stop Bailey and she goes from wanting to write a story about the crime, the murder of a young woman on Austin's jogging/bike trails, to something more concerning the woman. I enjoy mysteries and that is what attracted me to this story and this series. But you need to be prepared for insta lust (the characters think about lusting, it's not just all in my head) and open door romance. Both characters are likeable although I do wish Bailey wasn't so clueless to danger because she makes a weak case when she can't understand why Jacob thinks she needs to be careful. It's like her brain has disconnected from what is happening around her and to her. Overall an enjoyable rom/mystery, with the action taking place in my state.

Bailey is an investigative reporter trying to track down the truth. Jacob is a tough detective trying to solve a murder and protect anyone else from being hurt. They both want the same thing, answers and the murderer caught, but they have two different approaches to finding the truth. Jacob is terrified of Bailey putting herself in harms way but she's willing to fight for answers and justice just as much as he is. As they discover secrets and hidden intentions will they be able to work together to stay safe or will a killer find Bailey? Really loved the mystery and build in their relationship. Just what I needed when in the mood for a romantic suspense.
