I liked this book. It's very bittersweet, tender and nostalgic, in a way that you wouldn't expect from a sci-fi book. There were some things about the narrative voice that sort of irked me, but nothing major, and nothing that majorly detracted from the experience. The book in itself is lovely, especially the first and last part I really enjoyed.

This was a fascinating, well written book. It was just so good. Ishiguro really understands human psyche and behaviour, and childhood. It was deeply intriguing and mysterious. The audience finds out things as if they are growing up as a child at Hailsham themselves. I’m not sure if the part that
Spoiler they were clones used for donating vital organs
was supposed to be a secret, i happened to know this all along from a spoiler. Anyways this book was wonderful. Parts 2 and 3 were less interesting than part 1 but it was still a very solid story.

This book was really interesting, and for once I kind of guessed some of the twists/reveals ahead of time. I kept expecting the book to get suddenly more intense or sad, and though of course it was sad, I never came close to crying. It's almost like the mystery distracted me from how sad it was. But! Overall it was written well and it's a powerful book. Not sure I'd recommend it, but I definitely don't regret reading it.
