I liked this book but I didn't love it like Anna and the french kiss.

I don't know how Stephanie Perkins does it but when I read Anna, I wanted to go fall in love in Paris. Now in Lola, I felt like I was in San Francisco but I have never been there. One thing that was a surprise to me was when Anna and Etienne showed up in this book! How freakin' clever!!!

Lola is a great female main character. She is spunky and doesn't care what others think of her or how she dresses (even though she does go through a period in the book wearing only black). I liked how she doesn't come from a "traditional" family. I really can't remember the last YA book that I read that the main character had same sex parents. She knows what she wants (even those she is blinded by Max) and goes for it!

And now finally Cricket, awwww, wish he was someone I could meet in real life. He is way better than Etienne and probably the best love interest I have read in a book in a long time. So smart and spunky, like I said I need to have a Cricket in my life!

This cover is 100% better than Anna. I didn't like how you couldn't see the guy on the Anna and this one is so creative. When I see the houses on the cover, they remind me of the show Full House (maybe the houses on that street were the inspiration).

"I wish it didn't hurt to think about him. And I'm not upset because I want to be with him, I don't, but he was so much to be for so long. He was my future. And now he's nothing. I gave him everything, and now he's nothing." I related a TON to this quote, probably one of the best lines that Lola said. I have to say I have dated a lot of Max's in my life but I haven't found my Cricket yet.

I can't wait to read Stephanie's next book!

OH MY GOD, I AM COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK, IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL, SO AMAZING!!!

I don't know how she does it, but Stephanie Perkins writes the most accurate books. I mean, this stuff actually happens in real life, her stories feel so real!

This book was super cute, just like Anna and the French Kiss. Lola was very frustrating sometimes, and the time that took her to break up with Max was oh-so-painful, but it was all so accurate. People really are that stupid sometimes and they stand in the way of their own happiness.

Cricket was so adorable, oh my God! He was very sweet, intelligent and such a good person. And he really loved Lola. God, he was awesome.

Lindsey was also amazing, I think she's a great best friend.

I find very interesting the fact that Lola has two dads because I really think people should be more open minded about adoption by homossexual couples.

Calliope was of a cold-hearted bitch and maybe she just wanted to protect her brother or whatever, but I still don't like her. She made a lot of crap and Lola had a very hard time thanks to her, so yeah.

Basically, this book is perfect. It really describes the feeling of falling and being in love. I loved it very, very much!!

I love this book SO HARD, just as much as I loved Anna and the French Kiss. Stephanie Perkins writes gorgeous, perfect romances. Perfect, I say! I cannot WAIT for her next book. Full, gushy, praise-fest rave review to come.

I did enjoy the book, but i didn't love it.
Reasons: I couldn't relate to Lola, Cricket's lack of appearance, and high expectations.

Short review.

Wow this was a fantastical book. I really loved the characters and also sooooo happy to see Anna and Etienne around again!!!

The romance was good, though I didn't always like the main character, she knew about the boy loving her and still she just dragged him around everywhere.

I didn't like the parents either. Overprotective much? Biased much? I know the boyfriend wasn't the best, but to have so much trouble with him, to make life so difficult for him.. NO, just NO. NO parent should do that, it will just ruin things, and make your kid not like you or unhappy.
And how they reacted to the other boy, so different. He didn't have to do anything, he was just accepted.. parents...

But it was a cute read, I can't wait for the next book to come out! Hopefully soon.

Another favorite contemporary! This was soooo cute. I hated Max from the beginning of the book, so it was very frustrating to me to watch Lola stay with him. I just wanted like 3 more chapters. It ended too abruptly for me.

These romances are more than they appear on the surface. The writing flies by, and yay for gay characters instead of caricatures!
