Family saga meant to be a banner for women’s rights. A family of lace makers with a curse.

It had me in the first half, and then lost my interest in the second half. I found it boring and underwhelming. I’m glad it was free from Prime.

This is a story of a group of women in 1918 in Brazil who are lace makers. It delves into the relationships between women, violence against women, and people trying to escape their circumstances with what they have.

It was an interesting read with well developed characters. Even the character who throws a wrench in the plan at the end, you could still understand why she did what she did. I also liked the comparisons of the various generations and looking at how much things don't change. While it did discuss depressing topics it was done well and still had a hopefull tone.

My main issues were the continuous use of the G** slur for the Romani people (it does make sense it context but still) and the length of the book. It was a good length for the story, but I think we could have delved more into the world and the people with a longer book.
