This is a wonderful angsty slow burn romance with a criminal mystery element alongside for the perfect balance. I enjoyed every moment of this book which had me hooked from the very first page.

I really wanted to give Kieran a big squishy hug. He’s never had anyone in his corner to fight for him and only knows the feelings of being constantly let down, especially after doing time for a crime he didn’t commit. His primary goal is to find out who’s responsible for his incarceration, but then along comes Finley. Finley is the equine specialist at Redemption Ranch and has had his heart broken too many times and decides to have no more broken bad boys in his life, but along comes Kieran.

There’s instant chemistry between them but they take their time learning about each other, listening to each other and slowly breaking down barriers before any steamy intimate times happen. It’s doesn’t come easily but they both do the hard work to get their well deserved HEA.

There’s closure for Kieran’s false incarceration, plenty of animals for these two wonderful characters to use their magic on and a great cast of side characters to keep things interesting - especially loved Finley’s mum. We also get a quiet peek towards the end about which characters will be starring in the next 2 books.

This is the first book in the Redemption Ridge trilogy.  Kieran Sullivan is released from a 20-month prison sentence served for a crime he did not commit.   He has been let down by everyone in his life.  He is angry and wants revenge not the redemption being offered at the ranch.  He believes the ranch's owner may be involved in a crime ring that caused him to go to prison.   He meets Finley Ashe who will be his boss on the ranch.  Finley is on a six-month hiatus from men because he tends to go for the wounded souls who end up hurting him.  There is an immediate attraction.  The relationship development is well done.  Both characters grow so much over the course of the novel.  There are funny characters like Finley's mother who break up some of the serious elements of the story.  We do get resolution to what happened to Kieran which provided a great ending.  The book also provided other interesting characters who I look forward to learning more about in the next book.  I would recommend this book to anyone who has enjoyed Ms. Walker's other novels.  I would also recommend it for new readers to the genre.

Overall I enjoyed it. I believe this one could have been sooo much better had it been written in dual POV. That said I’ll read the rest of the series when it’s time.

Aimee Nicole Walker has a wonderful way of writing characters that immediately grab your heart and constructing wonderful worlds to put them in.

I was intrigued by this book from the start with the whole secret vengeance plan. I fell for the characters as we saw Kieran start to believe something good could happen for him and as we saw Finley help him believe he could be more.

I really liked the pace of the story arc and the build to the crisis moment. I read the book in one day as I didn’t want to put it down (except of course adulting tends to get in the way so I couldn’t just read straight through like I wanted to!)

The epilogue gives us a segue to the next book and I am looking forward to that and to book three. Looks like another winning series from Walker.
