4.5 AVERAGE

Crash and Burn is #6 in the Witness Series and is the first book that I have read in this series.

I actually enjoyed reading this book. Crash and Burn is the first book that I have read by this author. Although, I have to admit to some confusion. I agree with one of the reviews that I read that the first bit of the book was about Amber. Amber played such a bit part in the book but, should have been brought up in the blurb especially since this book started with her POV.

The story was good and entertaining once I got past Amber. The ending also had me confused. Chapter 20 had Toni and Mark’s sexy ending and then went to the Epilogue which wasn’t about Toni or Mark. It ended at Mark’s new job at the Ford Stevenson Securities and had his name mentioned along with the other employees at the Security agency.

I would like to read more from this author because the story was good it just had a few discrepancies.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I give Crash and Burn 3.75 stars.

In this 6th book of the series, we get a chance to follow Amber. We also follow Mark and what happens between them and what doesn't happen between them. We find Amber flying to California with her co-worker Kyle for three weeks for a business conference her boss selected them for. We find Mark getting a new partner and getting ready to go into an undercover case. What happens the night Amber leaves for California for Mark and his new partner? What does that do for Mark's disposition when facing Amber leaving for three weeks? What happens while Amber is in California? What happens for and with her and also what happens for and with Mark? Can these two star-crossed lovers make it work or does their relationship hit the skids? You're going to have to read to find out, but I'll tell you this much, it leaves me ready to read book 7 in the series already!

I enjoyed this book but you could pretty much tell where it was headed right from the beginning.

I liked both Mark and Amber but you could tell that there were some problems between them and Mark's half ass proposal should have been a sign. Yet the two still kept on going and never really dealt with their problems head on.

I really did feel bad for Amber with the business trip as she was clearly not ready for everything that happened.

Mark's journey was also interesting in that you could see it coming but the two hit a bunch of "speed bumps" and especially the huge blow up at the end. I didn't quite understand that one as there were specific guidelines with their relationship.

I knew how it was all going to turn out but it was still a good story and seeing how everything played out.
