Definitely for adults and older teens, not because of excessive violence, etc. (although there are some beatdowns, references to rape and sexual harassment, and general violence like explosions), but more because they'll be better equipped to understand the themes of haves vs. have-nots, corruption based on commerce, vigilante justice (?), working with enemies for a common goal, hating your allies, and economic factors that can set up the situation outlined in this GN.

Very disappointed it only made it to 12 issues, because I was personally quite intrigued by the storylines (many of them were set up surrounding the many characters making up the movement as well as some of the police officers culpable in the corruption). I also found it interesting to have a broad range of characters of color, with white not being the default even for background characters.

Good for anyone looking for something about social protests, along the lines of the Occupy Movement, as well as diverse and interesting super powers.

I picked this up almost purely because it was on the discounted shelf in the amazing American Book Centre in Amsterdam. All in all it's a pretty solid start to a new series, if not ground-breaking. One of it's major pluses is its diverse, female-heavy line-up, which is a nice change from the trend in most comics universes towards white hetero male protagonists. It delves into issues around politics, "people power" and corruption, but doesn't go too heavy - which is probably a wise decision for an opening volume, but I was a little disappointed with the lack of real substance. I also felt it was a little lacking in character development, although again that could come in later volumes. I'm not rushing out for the sequel, but the storyline and artwork were engaging enough to keep me interested.

this is so good!!! I'm so upset there are only 2 volumes!! its got anti-police teens working together as an underground movement with gr8 diversity and like.... power
this is so Good
its pretty bloody and violent though, so far warning, plus the opening comic scene is revisited and its one of attempted sexual violence.

Given my usual love of Simone I don't know what was missing. The characters were diverse and had neat powers but it was like it skipped the part where it established empathy for them, or why exactly they were so angry at the police outside of a couple terrible incidents--there must be history but I felt like that was assumed rather than shown.
