A poetic imagining of the world in pairs—winter/spring, firefly/dark, bird/tree, etc. I can absolutely imagine this as a book that would get read and reread and reread as a bedtime story.

It also opens the door to lots of possible playful pairings that parents and kids might come up with.

With absolutely knockout illustrations, this rhyming picture book pushes readers of all ages to think about relationships and perspective. You know how you think of a sweet-smelling rose, but how does it think of you? If I Was the Sunshine is warm, inventive, and a joy to linger over.

This poetry book explores connections in nature. This book has beautiful illustrations and could be used in class to talk about the connections we see. But I did struggle reading this smoothly because of the grammar so I’m not sure if it’d be easy for young kids to read.

Beautiful even though it's almost nonsensical- I would have loved this for a bedtime story when my kids were little.

Poetic text meets whimsical illustrations in this hauntingly beautiful book. With imaginative verses like "if you were a bird / and i was a tree / you'd call me home / and i'd call you free", this book explores relationships in nature and relationships between people and nature.
