This should have been one book. I found the exaggeration of the story so long winded. I’m very glad I read the spark notes (literally) of the second book instead of wasting my time.

I don't think words would be able to express how fantastic this book is.

Just read it.

Trust me.

Absolutely loved the vibes and dialogue between the characters. My favorite was probably my goat Jesper and Inej. I've never read a book where a character continuously fumbled the bag like a certain individual. The only thing I really didn't like was the corny ass romance and some of the YA dialogue, but honestly it just comes with the genre. Good stuff though!

YUP! YUP! i get it now. me giving a YA 5 stars????? bonkers. in my opinion, this didn’t read YA at all. the only reason i can see why this is marketed as YA is because there’s no smut and the characters are supposed to be teenagers. the characters actually read like adults to me. i feel like they’ve lived so many lives already with all of their different backstories and they’re not annoying/dumb like some teen characters can be. this was so good!!!!! once you get past the gibberish at the beginning of all the fantasy terms, you’re golden. the plot and story are very straightforward and easy to follow as long as you don’t spend too much time worrying about what all the specific terms mean lmao. but the real highlight is the characters and their relationships with each other. like yessss found family!!!!! yessss subtle but heart wrenching love!!!!! i’m obsessed. i didn’t read the shadow & bone trilogy bc i haven’t heard great things, but i will be checking out the show bc i heard the crow club is in it and i need to see what the cast looks like
