“It’s like, women unfairly can’t own to their own shit because they’re punished so harshly for not being perfect. Men can fuck up and move on, but not women. If you’re a woman, you’re always one step away from being worthless again. You go through life waiting for everything to be taken away, bending over backwards trying to prove your worth, driving yourself crazy trying to get everyone to like and respect you.”

What I didn’t like?
The pacing. Sometimes the storyline felt rushed and other times it dragged. It never hit a great stride for me on the pacing. Also, I wish there was more character development, and the thriller part of the story felt a little lacking, however that just may be me and my preferences regarding thrillers.

What I did like?

This whole concept?

Love it. I mean? A story centered around strong female leads in a world that is typically dominated by men. Sign. Me. Up.

Going on, think the author did a great job creating realistic relationships between the main characters and showing the complexity of them under the surface, behind the smiling and make up.

The social commentary?
*chefs kiss* I think the commentary on the criticism and harshness that women in power face was spot on. The microscope that women under versus men was perfectly displayed.

Also, the ending 😳

If you like lighter thrillers, ones that have some suspense, but don’t  create that feeling of anxiety that darker ones do? A book with some social commentary? I would check this out.
