I was totally gripped by this book.
It is the first book featuring DS Maddie Ives and my very first book by Charlie Gallagher.
The story is realistic and believable and the investigating duo is well built.
The story itself is fast paced, filled with action and it is really well written. It simply takes you there through the different perspectives!
A very well spent time this weekend with this book.

The killer takes young women, places them in remote locations with a camera looking down on them and watches them slowly decompose. DI Maddy Ives, relieved from her undercover work after breaking her cover to save someone’s life, and the seemingly unfriendly DI Harry Blaker, find themselves on his trail. ‘He is Watching You’ is a pretty standard police procedural with all the usual elements. There is nothing that specially stands out, but the writing is solid, the detective team seems to work, and the story is interesting enough. A slightly above average police procedural that is an entertaining read!

Um policial de estreia e que traz uma nova detetive aos leitores portugueses.
Gostei muito da garra da Maddie e de como não desiste de mostrar o que vale. A relação peculiar que criou com o Harry também me agradou.
Gostei de termos vários pontos de vista, principalmente o do assassino. É interessante percebermos as motivações, apesar de ter sentido que a descoberta da identidade caiu um pouco de pára-quedas.
No geral, é uma leitura rápida, uma investigação bem lineada e com uma boa abordagem. Fiquei curiosa para ler mais aventuras da Maddie Ives.

🎧 This is the first in the Maddie Ives series. It was a bit of a slow burn to begin with and didn’t really grab my attention straight off. It’s told from 3 points of view - the Police, Maddie and the victim. It took me to about a 1/4 way in for the storyline to grip me but then I was fully invested. Once I got to know Maddie I really liked her along with DI Harry Blaker and really loved them as a duo. Really liked Gallagher’s style of writing. Storyline was an interesting one and it had great twists and turns once it got going. Definitely a good start to a new series that I’ll definitely be keeping a look out for the next instalment.
Não é espectacular, mas também não é mau. Um bocadinho previsível mas, de qualquer forma, uma leitura agradável.
