Pavone delivers a fun thriller propelled by a hot manuscript filled with secrets old and new worth killing for. There are twists, turns, betrayals and a surprisingly hefty body count for a novel about the publishing industry. It's a bit like cotton candy, but plenty entertaining.

I don't know why I read this. I think that I thought I had liked the Expats better than I had. The story was uninteresting and pushed along by events that didn't make sense. The overall story is "wealthy guy accidentally kills girl in college - hires trained CIA operative to kill a score of people to prevent a biography being published that tells the story." I would think the small group of dead people would then be just as interesting. You also have to give up on the idea that the whole book would have been pointless if one of those people would have sent a single email containing a digital file of the book.

Enjoyed it very much.

Pretty good spy novel. About a book, which I loved. I cannot stay away from books about books.

We discussed this in our Mystery Library book discussion group years ago. I am now bringing my review to Goodreads.

Just thinking about this book again gives me chills. This book is one of my all-time favorites. It is full of intrigue, betrayal, murder, mystery and a maze of conundrums that puts who-dunit theories that we all think are correct...out the window! I was on the edge of my seat to the very last page. This story was as satisfying as it was gripping. This is about a manuscript. An accident. And what people will do to...

This is a thrilling adventure. Just take my word for it and read it.

I received The Accident by Chris Pavone from The Reading room in exchange for an honest review. To be absolute honest...I loved it! This book was so good!! It started off slightly slow, but with enough uncertainty that it kept me intrigued. It didn't take very long for the story line to pick up; and every time I thought I had it all figured out ( and I was positive I did a few times) something would happen that was entirely unexpected and would keep me guessing. This book, will keep you guessing with lots of shocking twists and turns. Absolutely a five star book. I am so glad I got to read this!

Great thriller with twists

The most 'fun' book of the year so far. A rip-roaring adventure, set in the world of trade publishing.
An anonymous submission of a manuscript that could doom the CIA and one of the word's biggest media moguls leads to a global man hunt, a lot of suspense and a great peek into the world of publishing.
Highly recommend.
