This was a fast paced regency romance, I enjoyed reading it. HOWEVER. My one issue that really BUGGED all book was the FMC and her opinion on marriage. This girl is basing her decision to NEVER marry off ONE PERSON. Singular. Her parents and her grandparents and ALL OF HER SIBLINGS are happily married and she’s sworn to never marry because of one aunt. The fact that she was in love and so stubborn that she could NOT move past it and just refused till 90% of the book drove me nuts. There was enough plot and drama that this was not needed. “Jack” was great. Harriet was not. This bugged me so much I took off two stars.
I am not connecting with this right now. The reviews are so good so I’m gonna come back to it one day but right now it’s not for me

Just... Ew. If the genders in this had been reversed, Bradley would have been a totally vile man. So this is the story of Bradley, who doesn't just have a stick up his ass, he's got an entire redwood forest. Then Harriet who decides to ignore the fact that he clearly doesn't want to be in her presence while aggressively pursuing him. So aggressive that if she were a guy talking to me I'd definitely be worried about being raped. She also decides to rename him Jack, which is an absolutely shitty thing to do to anyone, but then proceeds to call him 'sweet jack'. Over and over again. I swear if I never have to read that ever again, it'll be too soon. This novel just is gross.
This was an enjoyable book. Harry is a great character. She is spirited and one of a kind. However, I get bothered when the heroine can't see what is in front of her face and delays making the right decision. She is determined to never marry even though she is in love.
Harry’s carefree wild spirit spoke to me from the very beginning. She is drawn to all things requiring help so when she meets a stern Duke who never smiles, she cannot help be pulled to him. Watching her draw him out and his internal battle of rules and expectations is incredibly intriguing. The readers emotions are drawn in as his are. But what is a Duke to do once he fully accepts his emotions and his love for a girl who is convinced she will never marry. The tables are then turned while the Duke tries to convince her that marriage does not have to mean giving up her identity. The way they both come to truly know and understand each other is beautiful, as is their commitment not to change each other.

This book was a fun read. The characters were quit humorous and entertaining to read. I think the story was written differently than from the previous books from this writer. The story brought some charm and some exciting entertainment. I love the happily ever after ending. The story was easy to read and the story is a quick page turner. The realism the writer maintained during the book is what I think makes this book a fun read.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Once Upon A Devastatingly Sweet Kiss is simply a sweet, romantic treat. This slow-burn tale of opposites attracts delights and enchants the reader.
To call Lady Harriet “Harry” Beaumont a free spirit, is an understatement. She goes and does whatever she wants whenever she wants. Harry’s family has given her free reign in her life, not wanting to crush her vitality. Harry is an unforgettable character. She has color and a zest for life that is contagious. Harry also has an open, giving heart, wanting to help and heal broken things.
Bradley Jackson, the Duke of Clements, or “Jack,” as Harry calls him, is a lost soul. Due to family tragedy and being ignored by his father, Bradley has closed himself off, impervious to emotion. Bradley strives to keep his world ordered and peaceful. Bradley is a tragic figure, lonely and heartbroken, but he doesn’t allow himself to feel any of these emotions. However, Bradley has a spark of hidden spirit and adventure in him if he could unlock it. Although cold and shut off, I felt there were many facets to Bradley that made him a fascinating character.
When “sweet Jack” meets “the red-haired hellion,” as they call one another, both their worlds get turned upside down. Harry wants to support and heal Bradley. Bradley fears Harry due to the emotions that threaten to overwhelm him whenever Harry is near. These are two lost souls who need love’s healing and freeing power but do not realize it. The couple’s connection is sweet and powerful. The passion emerges slowly from camaraderie to burgeoning romance to life-changing love. The couple sparkled and stood out; their romantic journey was unique and memorable.
This was a slow-burn story, with much of the plot occurring between the couple in the same location. Instead of being repetitive, we get to experience watching the couple’s unique romance evolve as the two slowly get acquainted and grow emotionally. I appreciated that the obstacles the couple faced were not neatly resolved in one paragraph. It takes the complete journey through the book for the couple to discover compatibility, compromise, and happiness. The secondary characters were vivid and complimented the plot. The match-making grandmother stood out. Once Upon A Devastatingly Sweet Kiss is the fourth book in the Whickertons In Love series. This story is enchanting. I was captivated on every page and did not want Bradley and Harry’s story to end. I was invested throughout this lovingly written, decadent, beautiful love story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
