Very thought provoking. In other ways rather confusing abrupt ending and a slow beginning great middle!

4.5 rounded up for it blatant anti-crowd pleasing effect.

I wrote some dramatic notes midway through after nosying at GR friend reviews. I'll keep the drama.

"What a glorious mess this living is."

This is a book about death.

This is a book about this world right now

This is a book about hopelessness and grief. Trauma, injustice, disbelief and relentless emotional turmoil.

Unwavering truth really. The get-deep-get-real to everything that's going on in our human lives.

The story was interlaced with real life details of news-covered death events. The murder of Sarah Reed, and what came before. The serial killer Maya whatsherface, and what came after.

This is a book about hope and love.

This is a book about life.

Props to SG for wood puns from a desk and an interesting take on where we're at and what we've got to work with. Let's talk feelings and death already!! Our cosmos is overwhelmed. I have a theory.

It had me thinking about life and death. The two surest of things. I wonder if my near death, been-there-done-that, changed the way I experienced it. I wonder too if listening to the audio at 1.25 jammed a good tough tale into a racey, physical experience that did the trick.

I recall listening to 3 minutes at normal pace and needing it to change stat. 5 stars for an accelerated audio version experience.

ALSO (last thing) I was walking under a bridge during a thunderstorm just after finishing it and there was D E A T H chalked on the ground heh

This is a really challenging book for me to review. I really enjoyed it but it's hard to but into words why without trauma dumping. Salena Godden uses a variety of writing styles to develop this narrative (i.e. stream of consciousness, poetry, journal entries, etc.) We follow Mrs. Death and her conversations with Wolf processing life, time, and death. I think the introduction for this book really sets you up well, informing the reader that this won't be an easy book and death, of course, is the primary topic; So tread carefully. I already am eager to purchase a finished copy of this book to reread and annotate to my hearts content.
