Anne of Avonlea was just a lovely read. L.M. Montgomery deserves more recognition for her ability to write with such beautiful descriptions. It feels like Avonlea and its residents are real. Anne and the rest of the cast are written so well and their character developments are so realistic, I actually found myself feeling proud of them?
There wasn't really a developing plot throughout the book, instead it was about Anne's adventures as schoolteacher at Avonlea. It's a coming-of-age story centered around growing and learning from your mistakes. But after getting used to the slow-pace of the book, I found myself immersed and unable to put it down.
Overall, I'm really looking forward to continuing the series and seeing how Anne continues to grow as a woman.

I didn't lile this one as much as I liked the first, but Anne is such a compelling character and I want to soak up her world.
I think what took the most away from the story in this book was the entire storyline of Davy. I didn't find him interesting or compelling, and it made me sad how much space he was given and how little his twin sister got.

miss lavender is such a delightful character. i wish that she had been introduced earlier so we as readers would have had more time with her but i hope to see more of her in anne of the island!!

As an avid booklover (and Canadian), I am not sure how it took me until my early 30s to start this series. Green Gables feels like such an enchanting and luminous place, and this second book provided a breath of fresh air. It was an escape to a different time and place, much needed during another lockdown. I enjoyed getting to know the new characters and Anne's ever evolving relationships and her new roles, but I just didn't feel as invested as much as the first. I cannot help but continue to love Anne's imaginative spirit. This timeless series is just such a joy to pick up even if at times it doesn't feel like a whole lot if happening.
With each book I read, this series continues to blossom my dream of visiting PEI one day. I'm definitely looking forward to continuing my journey with Anne in 2022.
