Anne just makes me feel so whimsical and cozy! This type of story and storytelling aren't my usual wheelhouse, but Anne's character and LM Montgomery's writing just have such charm to keep me engaged.

I chuckled out loud at several points at Anne's adventures, particularly the scrapes she got herself into. You can see Anne's growth since she first came to Green Gables but also her growth into womanhood over the course of this story.

There were a few things that brought down my overall enjoyment: some of Davy's antics were a bit too much for me and I wasn't sure I agreed with some of Anne and Marilla's parenting tactics, and it bothered me a bit that it's stated a few times that they loved Davy more than Dora, the well-behaved child.

Overall, I enjoyed my time with Anne in Avonlea, and was even surprised to have the inclusion of a love story towards the end. Also, I love seeing the progression of Anne and Gilbert's relationship: the hint of things to come.

I can't believe I'm writing this review more than a week after finishing this, but I told myself I would do this someday, so here I am.
First of all, it's important to say that I read the first book over a year ago, but from what I can remember, I liked it very very much. I think I may have liked this one even more, though.
I love the vibes these books give and the fact that every chapter is almost like a different story by itself.
I really enjoyed seeing Anne as a teacher, and all of the characters developments. Although, I will admit that I wished Gilbert would have appeared more than he did.
I can't tell you how satisfied I was with that ending. Miss Lavender's love story? So beautiful. And even if, as I said, Gilbert wasn't that present in this book, his moment with Anne after the wedding was BEAUTIFUL. It was so romantic, not necessarily in an obvious way, but in a tender and innocent sort of way.
I simply love this book. It's like a ray of sunshine.
