The fart jokes aren't my jam, but everything else about it is amazing.

A pony that farts...yes! Not how I expected it to end.

A magical and hilarious book about a girl, a pony, lots of warriors and a big battle. Fun illustrations. Highly recommended. May write a bigger review soon.

Look, I don't normally read/review (and in this case) freak out over children's pictures books, but this is just so darn cute. I picked this up when I was doing my volunteer shindig at the Scholastic warehouse and FELL IN LOVE.
Princess Pinecone and her little pony are too adorable for words and I will push this book on everyone to read because of its cute factor. A derpy pony that is squishy and adorable? Check. That same pony having not one, but two mentions of farting? Check. A pony and princess that save the day? Check!
In the dark hell that was 2016, this was a true gem and shining moment. I'm definitely keeping this one for my kids (if I ever have them).

This was one of my favorite princess books and the boys loved the ending! Anything involving farts is a favorite with them!

Kind of cute, kind of random.

Princess Pinecone wants a gift worthy of a true warrior. A WAR HORSE! To charge into battle, lay waste to her enemies, and emerge in glorious victory!

She gets a short pony who farts a lot. Whoops.

A very silly story, which doesn't necessarily have a "moral," unless you're determined for it to have one, but is certainly entertaining. If you want to make the argument, it could be that it's okay to be both strong and to like cute things, which is a good argument to make.

It's nice to see a book with a rough-and-tumble girl where the focus isn't on the gender disparity. Princess Pinecone is a warrior, as is everyone else in her kingdom. It's just a thing. Beaton doesn't feel it's a big deal, and that's exactly how we should act around girls and boys.

Kate Beaton's "Hark! A Vagrant!" webcomic isn't well suited to little kids, but fans of the comic who wind up with kids will love this book. It's the right kind of art, the right kind of crude, and the right kind of empowering.
