I wonder if there a book JoJo Moyes has written than WON’T have me weeping at least once throughout it. This was initially a slow sequel for me, felt like it would follow the same formula as Me Before You, but it quickly became its own story as well as a very good sequel. I’m in love with Luisa Clark and her story.

A great follow up book to a great first book. Not so many tears in this one but all the feelings are still in it.

Lou listened to Will. And then somehow not after all. She mourns and doesn't dare take any bigger steps. But when Will's supposed daughter turns up, her life is turned upside down once again. What Jojo Moyes does with Lou is like a rollercoaster ride, first and foremost of emotions. The book is peppered with good twists and turns. It brought me tears of joy and sadness in equal measure, the latter especially towards the end. The usual humour of the first book was followed up well. Also the drama. Nevertheless, it is - somehow understandably - not up to the first book. On the other hand, I enjoyed Lou's further steps in her life extraordinarily. She is a very special character.

Book on CD narrated by Anna Acton.

A sequel to her runaway hit [b:Me Before You|15507958|Me Before You (Me Before You, #1)|Jojo Moyes|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1357108762l/15507958._SY75_.jpg|17763198], this brings the reader up to date on Louisa and her efforts to heal from the events in the earlier novel. I can’t say much more because that would spoil the first book. (S*I*G*H)

There are no easy, straightforward answers for Louisa, Sam or Lily. Or, for that matter the supporting characters: Mr and Mrs Traynor, her parents, her sister. These characters have to struggle to find their way, but they find support with one another. Are there missteps? Of course. Who amongst us hasn’t said or done the wrong thing without meaning to harm, insult, or detach from another person? In some cases – in the novel as in real life – it’s because we lack the full story, so cannot understand what the other person is really going through. Who amongst us hasn’t been puzzled and hurt by a comment made by someone else who intended no harm but was ignorant of the facts? While the scenarios these characters are dealing with are not situations I have personally dealt with, their emotions ARE familiar to me.

I have felt frustrated by the bad behavior of an acquaintance, wanting to just divorce myself from that person, and then later feeling ashamed that I reacted that way once I learned the full story, and arriving at sympathy (and even empathy) for their struggles. I’ve been faced with hard choices – do I take the promotion or move on to a new life? Do I forgive and forget, or harbor resentment and anger? Do I walk away from the troublesome situation, or stick it out and try to find a solution?

I did think that the plot got a little too complicated. Didn’t really need the drama with Louisa’s parents, for example. And did she really need such a dramatic crisis (not once, but twice) to wake her up to her true feelings? Still, this was a very enjoyable sequel to the first book and I’m glad to have read it.

Anna Acton does a marvelous job reading the audiobook. She really brought Lily to life in all her teen drama! And I loved the way she voiced Louisa and Sam, too.

Nowhere near as heartbreaking as Me Before You, but still as heartwarming.

I didn't like this book as much as I liked Me Before You. It mostly felt like one of the stories on Wattpad that younger people think of when having a love interest with a random famous person.

I didn't make me feel anything. Everything felt rushed and... I don't know. I didn't like it as much as the first one. I wanted to like it, I really did, but I just couldn't get out of the mind set that I was in with the Wattpad stories.

I have to add this to the Did-not-finish folder, because I couldn't get through it. I love Jojo Moyes' books, but this one was sort of disappointing compared to her other one.

This would be one of those stories that shouldn't have even been a thought. Me Before You should've been a standalone instead of a two part series.
