I absolutely loved it from start to finish! Jamie Littler’s stunning illustrations added so much to the story, and made the book feel like a cinematic experience. Frostheart played out in my head like an animated film, and it was glorious. The story was fast-paced and full of action and adventure, as well as funny and heart-warming moments. And the cast of characters were brilliantly imaginative. Very much looking forward to the second book!

I found this middle grade novel by watching videos of a booktuber called Gavin whose favourite book it is. He loved the book so much (he even named his cats after characters of this story) that his excitement made me want to read it.

I think this would read very nicely for someone who likes middle grade reads; I read them because I have middle grade readers in my life and am trying to see what is out there, but I'm learning more and more that I really don't click with it in general. I feel like a lot of this is likely charming but it's also very predictable. I also feel like the pace was a bit slow at the start, which made it harder to get into for me. I do think younger readers wouldn't have the same issues, though, so wouldn't rule the series out for my niblings later.

I didn't know what to espect going into this book as I didn't know anything about it at all but I really enjoyed it. I love Ash as the main character land the rest of the motley crew! 4.5/5. I can't wait to read the next book.
