for a book that opens up w a funeral, we dont really explore each characters relationship w grief until the last 50 pages. felt flat and kinda like the author was throwing a lot a the wall to see what would stick and unfortunately that made everything feel really surface level. pacing is blah and mmc was kind of a bore

This book was enjoyable, but a slow read for me in the muddle. Ended up skimming the last half. I liked Allison’s friends, Mara and Chelsea, a lot and would read a book about each of them! Allison’s struggled with BRCA felt really heavy for what was supposed to be a romcom.

3.75 ⭐️ I really liked this! It was a fun sunshine/grumpy trope with forced proximity and fun tension between the romantic leads. I think the end of the book dragged on a little bit but it was also nice because the characters worked through their issues not only with each other but also personally and with their families. Loved the ending! So cute! Also interesting to read a book with a breast cancer sub plot, main character doesn’t have cancer but tested positive for the BRCA gene and deals with challenges relating to that.

6 stars - I loved every part of this book. I was smiling so hard during their banter, giggling, and just loving every second. But I also cried and it felt so well written I loved it so much

2.5 ⭐️ for this one - it was just okay. I thought it had such good potential in the beginning! And unfortunately, it fell incredibly flat and it was a struggle to get through the second half

A great premise (and a funny title) that turned out to be a quite moving book about losing a friend and losing a part of yourself – two different types of grief that speak well side by side. The side characters add some humor and depth to the story. I appreciate so much, more than I can say, how this book brings pain and loss into what sex means to the main woman character – I have endometriosis, and I do love a romance, but I often just feel like the books make it all sound so easy, when for many (if not most) women, that is not the case. Palmer makes Allison's BRCA experience moving and relatable and even gently funny, and it means a lot to me as a woman who has dealt with pain and sex.

I only wish the timeline was longer, both to draw out the slow-burn chemistry and to make the love story more believable.

Loved that this is a romance that also addresses the extra complexities brought by the tremendous changes in both body and mind post-mastectomy.
