love love loved this. I loved the exploration of identity, grief, survivors guilt, and a little dash of female friendship. The big “ah-ha” moments were very predictable. When the FMC mentions the look on the MMCs face the first time he sees her I thought “oh he loves her already” and as soon as they talk about Sam inviting the Adam to a new year’s party to meet a girl, I knew he was trying to set him up with Alison. Oddly enough given the main plot points, I don’t feel like this book dove too deeply knot grief. I think there were times I felt a little bit sad about how most of the characters viewed Sam as a character in their life, not a whole person but I also think that’s nuanced and complicated and ultimately, this is told from Alison’s POV and she had a very surface level relationship with him.
I thought the romance was so sweet and swooney. that man was down bad from the very beginning and I loved that he kept trying to set boundaries he couldn’t hold himself to because he liked her so much.
If i have one true complaint, it’s thatthe epilogue is only 3 months later, so basically, what, 5 months since they first meet? and one of those months they didn’t speak? Insane to move in with a man that quickly no matter how in love you are with him.but this is a romance so i’ll forgive it

i knew it i knew it i knew it. this was so cute that i read it all im 4 hours without stopping once. i loved from alison and adam soooooo cute. we need an epilogue to the epilogue bro. 3 months isn’t enough, i need more.
no but seriously, this was a good read. the building up to them finally getting together was perfect for me. the right amount of mutual pining will always do it. dealt with some more serious topics, breast cancer, death, and mastectomy all being very major points to this story, but it wasn’t ever depressing if that makes sense. all of the characters were good, even rooting for side characters to get together (THAT I’LL NEVER KNOW THE ANSWER TO.) just two homebody introverts in love.

Pleasantly surprised by quality of plot. Her ex-bf dies but never tells his family they broke up. She’s forced to spend 4 weekends cleaning out his things, as “his gf”, with the ex’s best friend.

It's fake dating from beyond the grave! This was a cute, clean, substantial romance. Because of the miscommunication up front about her relationship with Sam, the love triangle between Alison, Sam, and Adam was very interesting and entertaining. Can you imagine falling in love with your best friend's significant other? I related to her struggle with dating post-surgery. That never-ending questioning of 'Is my body acceptable?' 'Are they gonna be weirded out by my scars or lumps and bumps?' Even if you haven't had surgery, I'm sure you've had a self-conscious moment about your body. I also like that it was set in my hometown and felt very accurate to the area.
