I like the concept of a world that operates on narrative logic but I wish Irene had actually actively used it instead of just making comments. She was also a bit too pessimistic in this one with all the "everything is doomed and I'm going to die" thinking. I didn’t get this feeling from her in the first book.
I did really like this book overall. It was fun.

I loved the world building in the first book, this one was less successful for me somehow. There is a great deal more action but I didn't feel as if I was able to catch on to the core of the story. Lots of events, lots of action and interaction but I didn't feel as if I knew "why" it was all happening. This is series that plays with the nature of narrative as a weapon and a force which might have set me up to look for some deeper resonances that didn't seem to be there.

I continue to be underwhelmed by this series. The premise is strong, but the characters act like dingbats.

Such a fun heroine with rich characters and vivid worlds! A truly enjoyable little romp of a story!
