Chronological short stories about life growing up in the Philadelphia suburb of Glenside from the 1940's to 1960's. Humorous and entertaining with a dash of local history woven throughout the book. I really enjoyed this book. Recommend to anyone who was raised or lived anywhere in the Abington/Glenside suburbs, or just generally grew up in the same era.

Having grown up in Laverock (a stone's throw from Glenside), gone to Glenside Elementary, and having had close friends who lived on Oak Road, I loved all the familiar references to the area, and the stories of growing up. I am also a baseball fan (too late for the A's, but LOVE the Phillies) so enjoyed all those references too. Anyone from the area will love all this.

I have two complaints. 1) I read the Kindle version, and obviously no one ever proof-read it. It was so full of typos, missing words and punctuation, and some grammatical errors that it actually got annoying to read at some points.
2) Another thing that annoyed me was the sudden lecture about religion, and this quote, "This Country was founded as a majority Christian nation and remains one to this day. Our problem is that we are too concerned about the feelings of the minority people who could care less [note - the correct phrase is COULDN'T care less]about our own feelings." Well, I am Jewish, I learned in school that our country is not governed by religion and that we stand for religious freedom for all, not just the majority. It was at this point the book lost all credibility. Too bad, too, because up to then I really liked it.
