This book was my second novel by Arthur Hailey. I loved it even more than the Airport. I got invested from page one and couldn't stop untill I finished it. Sure, I called some of the plot twists, but it didn't take away from the enjoyment of reading this novel.

a bit disappointed by this one. it was a decent read but incredibly predictable down to the smallest event. from the introduction of wells you just knew he was going to end up being secretly rich and taking over the hotel. kind of corny.

It says something that Hailey crammed so many details and masterfully entwined the multiple minor plots into this story that they decided to make a TV series out of it, rather than a book. (Unfortunately the series can't hold a candle to it, but you can't have everything.)

If you ever wanted to know about how hotels are run, this offers a behind-the-scenes view of a luxury hotel. (And yes, hotels *are* moving back to this model!) Partying teenagers, sick guests, entitled rich folks, a possible buy-out and staff conflicts all feature.
