Raymond is the only good man

on a serious note, it was nice to see someone get better.

I took one of my hands in the other, tried to imagine what it would feel like if it was another person’s hand holding mine. There have been times when I felt that I might die of loneliness. People sometimes say they might die of boredom, that they’re dying for a cup of tea, but for me, dying of loneliness is not hyperbole. When I feel like that, my head drops and my shoulders slump and I ache, I physically ache, for human contact—I truly feel that I might tumble to the ground and pass away if someone doesn’t hold me, touch me.

This book was a bit hard to get into at first, we're entirely in Eleanor's head and it takes a bit of adjustment. But after that, God I can't say how much I was glad I didn't quit on this book. As the story went on, I begun to understand the heartbreakingly complex character of Eleanor and I genuinely laughed through tears at some points in the book.

I loved that Raymond provided such a dependable figure to Eleanor when she was at her lowest, hell even the little things he did for her at the start really shows how much of a warm and caring person he is. I'm so glad that he and Eleanor didn't end up together. The way their friendship developed was so sweet to watch and they balance each other so well. The ending really took me by surprise tbh, but it made me feel both sad and happy that Eleanor had such an important breakthrough with the support she had that she was able to realize that she needed to let go.

Really loved this book, 100%.
