I picked this up from the library since many people had recommended it online. However, after that I saw that many others didn't like it so I avoided reading it till the last possible minute which was a waste since it was so good. I really enjoyed eleanors development. Raymond was really nice and I think this book tackled with such heavy subjects fairly well. Overall it was quite enjoyable imo.

This book made me cry more than any other, because it is so beautifully sad. Eleanor Oliphant is a deeply traumatised and therefore shut-down person, who doesn’t really know how to exist in the world,
but through the kindness of a friend she overcomes her unimaginable struggles to ultimately find peace
Honeyman has created a narrative which explores an under-represented social issue: loneliness in young people, and in doing so makes the reader fall completely in love with Eleanor.

This was a greta depiction about how trauma at such a young can effect a person throughout their whole entire life. It was great to see how her trauma wasn’t sugar coated in any way and the author told it how it was.

I listened to it and the accents made this story 10x better. Would read again!

I felt as if this book started EXCEPTIONALLY slow and I found that so difficult because of how unlovable the narrator comes off, but the narrator goes through so much character growth throughout the story that it makes up for how slow the beginning of the book felt.

This book was a slice of life that was just ok. It has some great moments that are delicate and emotional that made me feel something, but I was hard to follow Eleanor’s day to day living because she was so weird. There were plot points that kept me reading because I wanted to see the outcomes but the outcomes were to realistic that they were just boring. I needed a little more drama in this slice of life to recommend or reread it.
