I didn't expect too much out of this book, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The author did a great job with combining all the myths and legends and cultures. Not only were they pretty accurate, but the stories flowed so well with the characters and the plot. I really like Sophie. She is brave and strong. Josh is super relatable. He gets jealous and frustrated with how ordinary he is compared to Sophie, even though he is special too, just hasn't been awakened. It's kinda hard to know whose bad or good. Because for most of the book Nicholas is good, but then Dee gets into Josh's head, and even I started questioning. There is so much to unravel. Definitely enjoyed this book. It was easy, fast paced, with a decent plot.

I enjoyed this. it was an easy and relatively fun read, but there were a couple parts where i got confused as to what was exactly going on. The magic system is interesting, and the action wasn’t awful.

Starts out slow, but pretty good overall.

These are the kind of books that I enjoy...those that tie myths and distant history into the real-world and then tie some plot around it. It may not always be the "crispest" of plots, but the action is consistent and the linkages to creatures and objects of past mythology makes it fun and interesting.

This is the first of five books, so plan for a marathon of reading if you start this series...

This book got me hooked literally from the first page, it doesn't start off slowly introducing all of its characters it just jumps right in and gives the characters their personalities and backgrounds as you go through the book. I love this book, definitely interested in reading the next.

3.5

I gave up on this book a few week ago. It style out great, but I got bored pretty quickly. It just didn't move forward quickly enough--especially in comparison to how quickly an action packed it began.

I am still giving it a neutral 3 stars because I think it would be a great book/series for a pre-teen (plus or minus). I think it was just too young for me to enjoy and not as well done as Harry Potter to get past kids/teens being the main characters.

I actually didn't even finish it. I had about 300 iPhone pages left but was just too bored. So I started another book and 3 completed books later, I have officially given up.
