Quite a cute book, even though there's not much of a story being told. Just an everyday story of an everyday man. No twist, no secrets, no thrills. And I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. Mildly enjoyable.

I really liked how the narrator took a break every page or so from hyper-specific racism against every nationality in Europe and insulting Catholics and switch being way too judgmental of teenage girls and deciding to marry his student.

A romance even I, a non romance reader, can except 🤭 There were things I didn’t appreciate, but also thing I liked. So a solid medium with 3 ★

Definitely Brontë's weakest--it shares a lot of elements with Villete, but without its intensity or strangeness. Crimsworth is an unappealing creep.
