This is a book about the monsters under the bed, about bravery and sacrifice and the value a home-cooked meal. Weird and creepy to the end, this Gaiman story was captivating, enticing, and made me want to give the protagonist a big hug the whole way through. I particularly enjoyed the audiobook narrated by the author.

Lush and imaginative with an undercurrent of suspense and menace. Reminds me of A Wrinkle in Time.

I loved this book, I actually might reread it.  Plot heavy, maybe dragged in some places but the writing was so enjoyable to read I didn’t really mind!

My biggest let down of the book is that the characters are sort of one dimensional outside of our main character who we are getting all of their inner monologue throughout the book.  But this book is just really meant to focus in his journey and I can understand why the other characters weren’t focused on in that way.

It is 8am and I finished this at midnight so I am obviously still processing!! But it was a great read overall.

"And people change as much as oceans."
