Absolutely fantastic

Waaaah! This book! Ok, so I’ll start with this... I really struggled starting it. 1- I prefer romcoms. I had heard quite a few people say that this one was pretty emotional, and it made me leery to start it. 2- I also don’t like players. So the first chapter or two with Coy was a struggle. BUTTTTTTT! This is an Adriana Locke book here, and she’s yet to publish one that I haven’t loved. So. I gave it a shot. Onto the review itself- this book was fantastic! At the beginning of the book, I feel like the author gave us the version of Coy that the press sees... cocky, player, mischievous, full of himself. As the book progressed, I love that the author was able to get me to open my eyes and see him so differently. The book WAS emotional, and I really cried with Bellamy a time or two, but it wasn’t as bad as I had feared. Overall, this book is a home-run that I’m so glad I read!

I first met Coy and Bellamy in Locke’s The Relationship Pact, which was Coy’s cousin Larissa’s story and Bellamy is her best friend. Larissa, Bellamy, Coy and Boone (Coy’s younger brother) were a tight foursome who grew up doing everything together. The other three are still the very best of friends, living and playing together in their hometown of Savannah, but Coy’ a bit of an outside. He’s a big country music star now so everything about his life has changed, but his family loves him as much as always, they just wish they got to see him more often. Bellamy makes it clear in Larissa’s story that she wants to stay far away from Coy, although she never explains why.

These two had a boy/girl-next-door thing on and off for years but he broke her heart spectacularly and the childhood friends are now enemies, at least as far as Bellamy is concerned. Coy promised that things wouldn’t change then he cut her out of his life when he went to Nashville. There were a few misunderstandings and some bad luck, but he takes full responsibility for everything so that should fix things, but it’s not enough. His career is there and she’s here, with family obligations that won’t change. Even if they can repair what’s between them, they can’t be together.

Bellamy is tough and strong, sassy and self-assured to the world but inside, she’s scared and has never felt more alone. Coy wants her in his life but she’s lived enough heartbreak to last a lifetime already and she can’t face any more. These two were meant to be together, but can they make it work?
They’re both likeable, fun characters that I loved immediately. The supporting cast is great as well. The Mason family is always fun and Bellamy’s dad plays a big role in her story. This is a couple you can’t help rooting for and one that really deserves their HEA. I’m still torn between Coy and Boone as my favorite Mason boy because they’re both so sweet. I was sure Boone won after reading Reckless, but going back to Coy and Bellamy’s story is making me doubt that declaration all over again.

I love Locke’s style with the huge cast of characters and simple but poignant storylines that still manage to be funny. Now I’m wondering when Oliver and Wade’s stories are coming and trying to choose between whether the Landry or Gibson series will be my next choice. This is a standalone but if you’re planning to read the whole series, there are spoilers so you may want to start at the beginning and read them in order.

I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers story. I love when the main characters have a history and this one goes back years. I adored Bellamy. Coy took a bit but eventually grew on me. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and change. I adored the big family aspect. I can’t wait for the next book!

I was so excited for book 2 after reading the first in this series, but I struggled through it finally finishing after two-ish weeks, which is very unlike me. I felt the love happened way to fast for Coy and Bellamy. He was apathetic in the beginning and she was hate until it switched so suddenly they’re thinking about marriage? I just didn’t feel the chemistry especially since this was a childhood friends/lovers story.

He’s still the man who breaks promises, forgetting them in an instant. Forgetting me in an instant.

What an unexpectedly heartfelt story with plenty of laughs too. I didn't expect Coy to be the second Mason brother to find love but I'm so glad it was him. Bellamy is the girl that got away ... because Coy didn't really realise what he even had. This book is the perfect mix of friends to enemies to lovers with a dash of second chance thrown in to boot. Highly recommend this one!!

Second chance books aren’t always my favourite but I loved this book!!

Coy and Bellamy were perfect for each other from the start and everyone knew it but them

Fun,sexy and emotional read! I was really looking forward to reading about Coy and Bellamy's love/hate relationship and I was not disappointed. Coy is everything you want from the bad boy -that sexy smirk and cocky attitude. Bellamy is a strong woman and not afraid to say what's on her mind. I can't wait to read more of the Mason's!

Another 5 star read from Adriana Locke! Bellamy and Coy are faced with real life issues and it was so easy to get caught up in their story. There’s so much heart and soul in this book.....so many words and thoughts from the h/H that are fantastic life advice. One of my favorite scenes in the book is the conversation between Coy’s mom and Bellamy....gah did that pull on my heartstrings. One of my favorite lines in the book was “A wise man once told me that a life lived without tears is a life unlived”. Ponder on that then pick up this book and immerse yourself into this story which will leave you laughing, crying, and believing that anything is possible when you love someone.

These characters and this story weren't my favorite but I'm 100% into getting more Boone!
