The second part of the book ( the maze ) was so House of Leaves coded

This started out pretty weak. The editor’s note at the beginning is a great way to stir up suspense, but after that, it feels like there wasn’t a lot driving the story. The middle and end were fast-paced, but not rushed, and were enjoyable.
One of the cool things about found-footage books/movies is the different perspectives I get to read/see. In a lot of books, there’s a boring character or one that doesn’t do anything for me. In this story, I never felt turned off by the switch in narrative and it kept things moving in a fun and coherent way.

DID NOT FINISH

I couldn't get into the "found footage" thing as a book.

This book is an episode Ghost Adventures meets House of Leaves with some MK Ultra shenanigans thrown in. In the process of filming the thirteenth episode of their ghost hunting series, our protagonists stumble into a real world haunting that will push the boundaries of their perception of reality, while forcing them to confront the darkest truths about themselves. A warning against unchecked ambition and the pursuit of glory for glories sake, this book will leave you with more questions than answers, all of which will keep you up at night.

This book had no business being over 400 pages.
I managed to finish it since some bits were interesting but most of the book read so tediously, maybe because of the format? The ending lost me, became unnecessarily silly and dragged down the rating sadly...

I really liked it until the final turn of the book. The end felt rushed and I also had the feeling that some questions were not answered.

I'm not sure I would've liked it so much in the print version, but the audiobook production is EXCELLENT. It felt like I was listening to the audio of a found footage movie. The characters felt pretty fleshed out, and the ending for everything felt deserved. Although I have to say that Jessica's ending kinda broke me a bit. But this was a great read!

Ok so I still don't know how I feel about this book. It absolutely kept me engaged, and I thought the found footage narration style was used effectively. However, I have no idea what the message of this book is at any level. Most of the characters kinda (or really) suck? The ending felt like a totally different book than the beginning.
