I picked this book up on a whim from the local bookstore. I thought after hearing all of the news reports out of Colorado in 1999 that I had heard everything there was to hear about that horrible day and the events leading up to it. I was WAY wrong. This is both a fascinating and disturbing inquest into the Columbine high school massacre and the events that led up to it. Some parts of it, yes, are disturbing; it comes with the territory. The author discusses several of the myths about the two killers that have arisen from the tragedy and dispels them. He also re-visited the scene of the crime five and ten years after, to see how individuals, families, and the entire Columbine community has coped with the losses.

Hard to say you like a book like this. And now was not the best time to read it, but is there ever? It was really interesting. I worked in the media when this happened. I remember sitting in a back office at channel 7 in buffalo watching the kid climb out the library window. I was numb to this stuff back then. My life has taken a different turn and now I'm horrified by these situations..,

This was a great book to get insight into the Columbine tragedy and to learn about what was not true about the case. I really enjoyed learning about some of the mental health aspects of the killers. I thought it got old, though, after awhile but felt obligated to finish listening to the audio book.
I loved all the different angles and viewpoints the author gathered information from. From the killers to the survivors to the principal. Really, really well written. The only thing I didn’t like was all over the place the writing was. One paragraph to the next was talking about something totally different. But the book itself was really good. So much information and i loved reading about the psychology behind the murders. Dave Cullen did a great job with this.

Mesmerizing from start to finish, Columbine is a true crime that's the very embodiment of "page-turner." Author Dave Cullen spent ten years meticulously researching the subject, and the result is a finely detailed account that humanizes and enlightens readers at a depth news pieces didn't, or couldn't, do. Crucially, Columbine extensively corrects errors in the rabid news reporting that followed, errors that captured the public's attention and quickly became gospel truth. This book is the last word on the Columbine High School massacre of April 20, 1999.
