Lord Peter goes on holiday to a picturesque Scottish village where all of the inhabitants paint, fish, or both. When a painter is found dead near his painting, there are a wealth of suspects and clues...but which are the red herrings? This one kept me guessing. Highly recommended.

I got really lost with the timetables, and the writing in dialect was really hard to read at some points.
An absolute gem. Loved every minute of it especially as the setting holds many warm childhood memories ( no murdering involved lol) and Kirkcudbright is still considered art and crafty place.

This isn't one of the best in the series. It's an interesting mystery, but two things detract from my enjoyment. One is the dialect. It takes me so much effort to read it that I end up losing momentum in the story. Second, the ending was very abrupt after a prolonged lead-up. That was disappointing.
