This didn’t start out as engaging as it ended! This is a very PG-13, YA high fantasy seemingly written for women and girls because most of the most interesting and powerful characters are women!

Skewed a little young, but still a super fun and interesting start to a new series. I particularly enjoy the fact that the MC is a blacksmith—heck yes, strong ladies!

This was fine, cute, a bit young. Going to keep going with the series because it's easy listening and, well...they're all available with no wait time.

The book was very good and interesting, just not my cup of tea. As someone who reads more YA 16-18 and NA the plot seemed rather easy and predictable, but if you’re starting out reading Fantasy and are looking for an intro into High Fantasy or generally read YA 12-16 this could be a brillant choice for you. Loved the characters though and the world-building was brilliant.

I picked up my copy of this book from Reader's Garden Library charter number 156200. I really enjoyed this book with its strong female protagonists. I look forward to seeing where the story goes from her into the second and third books of the series.

I actually enjoyed this book a lot more than I anticipated—which just goes to show that sometimes reviews don’t do a book justice.

While I can agree that some parts were paced slower than others, I never felt a drag in the story. In fact, I think it was a good balance of travel, action, and that slow burn we all love. I found this book comparable to classic adventures, only set for a younger audience. Our protagonist is 15, but seems a lot wiser for her age. She is not irrational nor impulsive (like Nimhea is, and she’s 18
