This is such a great series. Malcolm and Yoon are finally fully and wonderfully together. And it’s glorious and filled with some seriously deep feelings on both their sides. I really appreciate their conversations about the state of their togetherness.

This Sila thing is creepy and getting more creepily intriguing. In a seriously creepy way.

The case was also pretty horrifying. And the beauty of Malcolm and Yoon as a couple and as partners played really well as they bounced off each other in solving the case at hand. A father manipulating his son using a twisted religion to manipulate young women.

And finally Gabriella. I appreciate her friendship with Anjulie. I’m also nervous for her being in contact with Sila. Or at least I’m pretty sure that was him.

Such a great series. I’m so happy I decided to begin reading it.

WHEN HE SAID I DO NOT WANT YOU... I NEED YOU!!!! AKSDFBASKDFAS I GASPED SO HARD. HE GETS IT, HE FUCKING GETS IT. but that ending is creepy af LSAFNALSFAS

Finally, finally, finally. That's how I feel reading this, and reading Seong-Jae and Malcolm's relationship in this. We finally get them together, and starting a relationship, and it is glorious!

This book picks up right after the end of the sixth book, and the first 20-ish percent of this is basically Seong-Jae and Malcolm in the afterglow of the sex they had, and them talking and facing what they did - and thankfully no running away or "lets pretend that never happened" happens. I'm getting tired of that in romance books so the opposite of that was really refreshing - and talking more in depth.

I have to say I was not expecting what Seong-Jae told Malcom. I thought Sila was just a messed up ex who was emotionally abusive - or maybe even physically abusive as well - but it's more than that. I won't spoil what that is, but it was huge that Seong-Jae shared what he did with Malcom (and no he still doesn't tell him about Sila, damn it! Argh. But they JUST start dating in this episode, so it's understandable that Seong-Jae isn't there yet) and let himself lean on Malcolm, who was offering to be leaned on.

It just makes me so happy and giddy how good these two are for each other. How understanding they both are, how sweet Malcolm is with Seong-Jae, how cute they are with each other. Seong-Jae is so stoic, yes, but with Malcolm he melts. Also their banter is as great and cute as ever.

This book was mostly furthering Seong-Jae and Malcom's relationship and focusing on it as they make the transition into being boyfriends and how that works, and the case is important in how it relates to Seong-Jae. Since we learn more about him and his past, and how it relates to Sila, the case is similar in some ways that hit way too close to home for Seong-Jae. It was interesting how that all tied together.

I also gotta say that I am loving the duo of Gabrielle and Anjulie. They're great friends, and the way Anjulie is there for Gabrielle while Gabrielle is making a transition in her life back to Baltimore (and getting over Malcolm) is wonderful.

ALSO! I am now
Spoilerscared as fuck for Gabrielle because that was TOTALLY SILA working for the DA guy Gabrielle will most likely be working for now. RUN AWAY, GABRIELLE! RUN! Sila is so creepy.

Also, that ending - not the good ending with Malcolm and Seong-Jae together (always love that) but the ending ending with Sila. UGH. He is so creepy and scary and I am scared for Malcom and Seong-Jae and our secondary characters, Gabrielle, Anjulie and Sade as well. Maybe even Jason Huang, who I don't think is as bad a guy as he seems.

But otherwise I absolutely loved this and I am reveling in the Seong-Jae and Malcolm goodness and I can't wait for more and already wish I didn't have to wait a whole month for the next installment. These two are so perfect together! I just want so much more of these two together. *happy sigh*

✔️ MAL AND SEONG-JAE- ai ai ai these two are so lovely 😍  - I crave every little interaction with them ;
🆗️ plot / the case was interesting enough-
🆗️ Seong-Jae keeping secrets- uff this is going to bite him in his ass - but I do hope that Mal and Seong-Jae will overcome it together 😭😭
🆗️ Sila plot line- I am intrigued 🤔
❌ the Gabi plot line- not gonna lie - I do skip her / skim her parts

》 Ripped out a piece of his heart and gave it to Seong-Jae to have, to hold, to keep. A piece that would belong to him forever, and would never fit inside Malcolm the same way again.《
