The poems were full of some gut-punching phrases and vivid imagery. A fantastic addition to the pocket change collective.

Pocket size,  power poems. I really enjoyed the style of the poetry. Definite content warnings, but an overall hopeful tone

I really enjoyed this short collection of free-verse poetry from the author, Amyra Leon. She really highlights the struggles she faces through a lens of intersectionality - a child in foster care, poverty, loss and grief, being Black, and more. Her stories help you feel empathy without pity; they are factual, yet not told in such a way as to make you feel sorry for her. It is important for us to remember that experiences other than our own are worth listening to, and that at least trying to understand can put us in a better position not only to empathize with others, but to advocate for those who are underrepresented and mistreated. I would definitely read more by this author.
