This one is basically just The Phantom Menace but from Padme's point of view. Parts of it felt rushed and I'm not sure I would have been able to follow the plot without having seen the movie.
This was a delightful read, perfect for any Star Wars fan. I absolutely adored this exploration of Padme's character and that of her handmaidens, especially Sabe. I especially appreciated that they all felt like actual teenage girls even with their very important roles. Can't wait to read the next book!

I’ve been obsessed with Padmé Amidala since I was a child, and I am (big surprise!!) a reader, so I don’t really know why I didn’t start the Padmé trilogy by E.K. Johnston sooner. Now that I finally got around to starting the trilogy, Queen’s Peril was a super fun read for me.
I feel like I have to clarify that when I say “this feels like fanfiction,” I don’t mean “this feels like fanfiction

I really wanted to love this book, and initially I did! It has a lot more perspectives than “Queen’s Shadow” and the writing feels a lot more confident. However it really fell apart for me in the final third because it’s so intertwined with The Phantom Menace it becomes really disjointed on its own. I haven’t seen the film in many years and that didn’t help, but I feel like the shift to these events could have been managed a lot better than it was. I’ll still read the final book in this trilogy but I’m sadly a bit underwhelmed with it so far.
I really enjoyed leaning about all of her handmaidens and how everything came together
I love anything Padme. I love how this story interweaves itself into the phantom menace.
We actually get to see the backstory of the handmaidens and where they come from. It en-riches the characters and there relationship with padme.
It depends these characters and is a great addition to Queens shadow.
We see Padme as a young girl trying to figure out how to be queen. Due to this role and responsibility she has to grow up very fast which create some great thinking around her decision making when it comes to Anakin. I like that she still acted young and she felt like a teenager. This just shows the inner conflict she has and how the Handmaidens really are a pillar of support for Padme.
