If you've ever wondered how much better The Phantom Menace would be if it were more sapphic, this is the book for you. The novel follows Padmé's first days as Queen of Naboo as she navigates her new role as Amidala, her relationships with her handmaidens, and the invasion of her home planet. Nothing in the novel should surprise prequels fans, but it's lovely to get more of a glimpse of life on Naboo and of Padmé (one of my favorite characters) herself. Sabé is a standout character, and

the brief appearances from Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan (two of my other favorites) are delightful surprises

I should add that I rarely—and by "rarely", I mean "almost never"—listen to audiobooks, but Catherine Taber, who voices Padmé in The Clone Wars, narrated this one with beautiful classic Star Wars music and appropriate sound effects in the background, and I loved it. It was like listening to a radio play.
