Felt it didn’t add anything other than recounting the story. Would have been nice to see some more social commentary, analysis and critique.

This was a standard enough true crime story of the murders at 10 Rillington Place. I wish the author had used it to deepen some of the interesting contextual background on illegal abortions/ prostitution/ interracial relationships which would have made it a meatier read. As it stands, I have no idea why it was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Non-fiction as it doesn’t do anything special.
