Love Love Love.... My only issues are there were 50- 75 pages in the middle of the book that dragged and i just wanted to get back into the story. Also, i know who the romance is between and i'm not sure how i feel about it.

But the main character is like a medieval Magnus Bane and i am livinggggggg

Recently orphaned rural teenager is rescued from a dungeon by a bard who is obviously something else/more (perhaps a spy? a thief? KEEP READING) and adventures ensue. Good times, fun banter, enjoyable characters, and a little magic (though very little from our two main characters). I found this an enjoyable and easy fireside read, and predict I will make it through all seven.

Very biased.  Re-read from my younger days.  Comfort read.  Nostalgia.

Needed to get out of a book high and this helped.  I wouldn't recommend if you're not into heavy lore, informative world building, and slow burn romance (minor plot).

Do you ever feel that a book was written just for you? Well, I am convinced this one was written for me. No matter that it was published before I was born.

I had a blast with this book. The first 50 or so pages were a bit dubious, as I had no idea what was going on, and there was the usual worldbuilding infodump (I would not be able to recall a single thing of that if held at gunpoint). I was starting to doubt a little bit, but soon after the book found its ground and pace and it was pretty much smooth sailing from there.

First things first, the book isn't introspective. The reader doesn't spend much time in the characters' heads or has much insight into their thoughts at all. And, although we do follow several POVs throughout the book, they aren't split into separate chapters like usual (which I personally find to be more versatile and comfortable overall). Also, traumatic events are given superficial regard at best (which I think works for this book, since it's so plot-focused).

Nonetheless, the characters are extremely lovable. I love them. I mean, you present me with a gifted yet naïve novice thief and his flamboyant mentor, what am I to do? Not fall for them??? Come on now.

This may be one of the best fantasy books I’ve ever read. An instant favorite.

Thrilled with finding this book, which is the first 'recommendation' I've taken from Good Reads. I became very attached to the characters and love the world setting. Her magic system has elements unique to me, which is always enjoyable.
