- Beautiful writing.
- Promising first part until after the ship, when one of the main characters is taken out of the story for a while. It went downhill from there; the plot lost traction. Book is too long and meandering for its own good.
- 3rd omniscient point of view is not my favorite. The old wizard character especially strained my nerves.
- The stuff from the prologue wasn't resolved in this book, and neither was Seregil's sickness.
- I'm not going to keep reading this series because of the problematic age gap and some weird outdated views on sexual assault in coming books.
