I enjoyed Hunger much more than the first one in the 'Gone' series. Reading this didn’t feel like a chore, and I didn't want to stop reading. The writing was descriptive and I understood the story better. I could sort of relate to the characters and their thoughts/feelings.

Why. Is. This. Series. So. Good.

I for some reason put off reading this for like five years. And now I desperately want to have time to get to the third one. I NEED ANSWERS.

Concept is still interesting but this book was WAY too long. It was exhausting to read. It could have been cut in half.

I would rate the last 30% of this book four stars and the first 70% three stars. I felt that the first part was a little slow, depressing, and repetitive. It was a really grim book and I was glad for the breaks I had to take to get other things done. Also there were some things that bugged me. One of them being...
Spoiler Starving kids really wouldn't go out to the fields to pick food to eat? Really?! They're starving!
There is also an introduction of a lesbian character in this book which isn't my favorite thing to read about. Thankfully, it wasn't graphic or a major part of the story.

Overall, I really enjoyed the characters and and I'm really curious to see what happens next. I've already read a good chunk of the third book in the series. I am addicted!

Three Stars

Well-written and all, but so many horrible things happen that it was hard to keep reading.
