I love Ellen and I love what she did in this book. She's funny and more than anything, she is 100% herself and encourages everyone else to be the same. Yes, not everyone who is true to themselves will become a big star like her, but I do believe everyone can be that happy. Her message is inspirational and a pleasure to listen to in her trademark fashion. This is the first of her books that I read, and now I definitely want to read her other two.

The best thing about this book is the back cover, where, instead of famous endorsement blurbs, Ellen blurbs about US, her readers! E.g. That’s a beautiful blouse you’re wearing. It goes nicely with this book. / You know what I love most about you? That we get each other. And also your eyes. / You’re my favorite reader. Ever, of all time Shhh…. Don’t tell the other readers.

Don’t get me wrong. I like Ellen DeGeneres. She’s a talented comedian and I’ve been a fan of hers for years. I may have actually watched a few episodes of her sitcom, and I think I’ve seen her talk show twice. (I watch little TV.)

But watching a talented performer give a 5-minute monologue that is funny and entertaining is not the same as reading a book … or, in my case, listening to it. It wasn’t great literature, but it was fine. I doubt I’ll remember it tomorrow.

DeGeneres performs the audiobook herself. I do admire her gift for delivering a comedic line!

A bit of this and that. Very Ellen. The title makes a lot of sense.

I love Ellen, so I really wanted to love this book. I even thought the audio version would be much so better than reading it, since Ellen did the recording herself. Unfortunately, I was wrong on both counts.

Maybe I actually need to *see* Ellen to get the most out of her comedy. Or maybe she just needed a better editor to cut back on the ramble. Or maybe by book three, she's already used her best material. Whichever it is, this book was a disappointment.

I would still read one of her earlier books, but I can't see myself coming back to this one again.

Ellen DeGeneres is awesome!
For this month’s Book Blogging Challenge Thingie I read ‘Seriously… I’m Kidding’ by Ellen DeGeneres and let me tell you- I love her!
Not that I didn’t before, I always did.
But I realized that I connect better with people when I read something they’ve written

Mostly just goofy. But I loved it. Learned some powerful things about simplicity and happiness but also just got an awesome laugh.

Ellen DeGeneres is so funny. Her talk show is absolutely delightful, her stand up has been fantastic since the early days. I love her so.

Her books are not funny. I thought it was a fluke with the last one I read. No. Her books are just not funny.

I'm sure there are so many people who are hilarious in their writing, but not in person. Ellen is the opposite. I will just stick with her talk show.

I 'read' this as an audiobook, in which Ellen DeGeneres was the reader. I would recommend listening to the audio book version of this because you get the inflection and sarcasm delivered right from the source. Great and hilarious book!
