OK OK OK THIS BOOK TOOK ME OVER A MONTH TO READ AND ITS ONLY 379 PAGES 💀technically it’s not entirely the books fault as I was busy with assessments and school and overall just forgot about my reading goal ( I’m currently 6 books behind🫠) but you know we love that, that means I get a reading summer which we love. Ok first of all why is the first half of the book so SLOW?! like only halfway you get into the actual plot about getting a unicorn and learning powers. The second half of the book was WAAAYYY MORE INTERESTING. Personally my fav character is Bobby she just reminds me of myself . She’s Over competitive, a smart-Alec, has panic attacks, needs food to think so she’s basically a reflection of me (well almost). Anyways when
Mitchell suggests that maybe Skandar mother’s Erika Everheart is the weaver
WHY THE HELL DID HE START SHOUTING UP A TREE AND RIPPING SEAWEED IN ANGER?!💀🖐️ AND DUDE PASSED OUT BECAUSE HE WAS SOOO MAD 😭🖐️. Omg poor Flo I felt really bad she had to cope with having a silver unicorn which are Ultra rare or something and they are extra powerful also another thing
when skandar finds out his mother is the weaver why did she have black and white paint all over her face and why was she described as if she was a hag? Like technically she would roughly be the same age as Skandar’s father right? And Kenna’s what 17? So that would roughly make Erika some in her 40s or 50s??
Ok let’s talk about the things I liked. Overall I love on how the unicorn are given unique personalities instead of them just acting like regular horses and honestly the stuff on the different elements and how the Spirit element was banned I thought was cool. But one thing is annoying me
so when Skander gets the book of spirit from Agatha he Flies to get away from the evil wild unicorns and dude somehow dropped the book because  he decided to hold onto the PAGES like you can let go of Scoundrel for one second grab the book for the Spine! Also he should have held onto it properly
Ok I need to wrap this up now or else I’m going to be critiquing every page  . Sooooo would I read this book again? NO😁 unless I want to put myself in boredom and give myself severe neck pain. ( the neck pain is probably from my shrimp posture when I read 🦐) Will I read the next book? Maaayybbeee….. if I found the next book then sure I’ll get it but it’s definitely not on my need to buy list .

I absolutely loved this book. I loved how the unicorns aren’t all sparkles and rainbows, the bloodthirsty unicorns were such a nice change.

I loved that the characters felt realistic; one is depressed, one has panic attacks, one is terrified of their unicorn. I loved that the panic attacks were handled by the other characters.

I also loved that there wasn’t a romantic subplot. Don’t get me wrong, I love romance, but it’s still nice to read books that don’t have romance.

This was such a fun read and I’m excited to start the next book!

This book was... something I've never seen in a book before. Unicorns WITH WINGS?! Overall, it was a good story but was way too sad for me.

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this after I read the depiction of the unicorns to be blood thirsty rather than the cute, fluffy, rainbow riders we are all used to. It was then I realized this was definitely not the middle grade book aimed to the feminine at heart. Nonetheless, lots of adventure, lots of close calls, lots of mystery. I actually quite enjoyed it even though it wasn't what I was thinking!

What a fun and unexpected read! The characters are great, the mystery is satisfying, loved the sky battles, ancient secrets, and family dynamics. I really love that unicorns are blood-thirty and not to be trusted in this book.
