Nice, fun summer read. I was really into it until the ending. I feel that there was a huge build up to the fire and when it got to the event it was rather anticlimactic. Casey's story popped up quite randomly, although she did have a good back story and an important message.
(feeling lost and like you don't fit in anywhere)
I loved Nina and Hud, and ended up quite fond of Kit in the end. However I feel that Mick's story didn't really make sense.
In the beach scene he didn't explain why he was an absent father. He was just being an arse, not taking responsibility for his actions.
The kids' story was very sad and tragic. It was interesting. I liked June & Mick's story too. Also liked the 50s vibe and the summer vibe.

Great novel for summer due to the beachy vibes! It's a bit of a slow burn but you really get a deep dive into the complex relationships between siblings and parents, as well as generations of family history. The pace picks up towards the end of the novel. Only reason was not 5 stars: ending was a bit underwhelming.
