Narration and dialogue struck me as pretty cheesy.

The first half of the book had me in a chokehold, I could not stop reading. I absolutely love TJR’s signature writing move of introducing the backstory to make you fall in love (or despise) the characters.
In the beginning I thought that Mick and June’s love was so beautiful, that I hoped one of them would die rather than leave each other, for love that pure to exist
. It is ultimately a story about love and family, but it is sometimes painful how much love can hurt. great read.

Well written but unfortunately forgettable. While Nina was often relatable, I wasn't really invested in any of the other characters

This book was a masterpiece. I don’t know how TJR got me to love and hate so many characters in such a short amount of time! Their characterization is deep; the reader truly feels like they know each character at their core. The story is brutally sad, inspiring, alluring, and in the end, hopeful.

The climax of the party when Mick shows up is one of the most exciting few pages I have ever read. The whole book led up to a few pivotal, fascinating chapters towards the end and they were delicious and satisfying.

I loved it. TJR is my new writing idol. I don’t know how she does it but I wish I could be just like her.
