When Bree was a teen she dated Cutter but was was secretly in love with his brother Caleb. The attraction was mutual but Caleb would never betray his brother. Then one night at a party, Bree comes to Caleb and takes what she wants. Try as he might, Caleb could not resist her. Ten years later Bree returns home to Brunswick Bay to see her dying father. Their secret has remained between the two of them all of these years. When they run into each other the attraction is as strong as ever. When Cutter sees them together he puts all the pieces together. He knew that Bree had cheated on him before she left town to start her career, he just didn't know of his brother's betrayal. There is tension and a knock down fight between the brothers, and then forgiveness. Can Bree's return to Brunswick Bay settle down bad boy Caleb Jackson? This is a story about chances and under estimated love. It was a great read. I loved it!
3.5 stars
***I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion***
Sympathy for the Devil is book #4 in the International Bad Boys series but it's also book #2 about the Jackson brothers (book #1 is The Honeymoon Trap ) and I was very happy to learn that we get to read more about the Jackson's since I really enjoyed the close relationship between the 3 brothers.
10 years ago Bree was dating Cutter Jackson but she was attracted to his brother Caleb and she was willing to lie and cheat in order to spend just one night with Caleb. Bree and Caleb do spend one night together and both promise to never took about that night.
Bree moved out of Brunswick Bay as soon as she finished high school in order to study photography but she's back home to be with her sick dad.
Coming back home isn't easy on Bree and as soon as she see Caleb again their old chemistry is still there and they are trying to find a way to be together without hurting Cutter and making a family mess.
I enjoyed reading about Caleb and Bree and how they both changed over the years and the fact they were both willing and ready to tell the truth about the night they spend together 10 years ago.
I really enjoyed the family dynamics between the Jackson brothers and also between Bree and her dad.
Sympathy for the Devil was a good fast read!

Oh, love those Jackson boys! It was great re-visiting this fun family and quirky, lively Zoey! Caleb and Bree have loved each other for 10 years albeit forbiddenly. Watching them decide to take the step to love is thoroughly enjoyable.
I don't think the blurb does this book justice - certainly when I reread it in preparation for writing this review I struggled to reconcile it with the book I read.
This is clearly part of a series, although the preceding book seems to be part of a different series (according to Goodreads). Anyway, Caleb and his two brothers run their family's marina.
Many years ago Caleb had a one-night stand with his brother's girl-friend Bree. Caleb had been in love with her but dealt with the issue by ignoring her and/or being rude to her until that night. She left town shortly afterwards and has made her name in Sydney as a photographer. Her father has recently been diagnosed with cancer and she has come home.
The novel/novella is about Caleb and Bree reconnecting and about honesty, honesty with each other and honesty towards Caleb's brother who knows nothing about what happened between them that night.
I liked this book. I liked the fact that I got the impression that Caleb and Bree might not have lasted IF they had behaved differently that night. I liked the fact that neither of them were in denial about their feelings or each other's feelings. Most of all, I just plain liked Caleb and Bree - they were the sort of people you would want to have a drink with.
BTW, if you sign up to Kelly Hunter's newsletter you also get the first book free of charge.
