Somehow I’ve never actually read the book - just knew bits of the story from other media. Curious.
I read the version with artwork by Yayoi Kusama - which is beautiful and colourful, but almost entirely unrelated to the story, which is a shame (especially when the writing entreats you to look at the pictures... which aren’t there)

Were to be a victorian child, I would rather be working whole day in a factory than reading this book again.
I read this for the first time as an adult. It's not for me.
As part of my decision to read books I've heard about but never actually read, this was first on the list. I would give it 2 1/2 stars, and I enjoyed it because it was silly and imaginative with the talking animals and the intensely angry queen. I don't think it's a story I feel compelled to read again, though.
This book is what I imagine a drug trip to be like. I don’t understand why it’s a classic when it’s so nonsensical and strange.

i liked some parts but others were meh. it was fast paced yet slow at the same time. overall, there was no end destination so I felt that there was no point to reading this. it still gave me mild entertainment.
If often tell myself that I should read more old classics, but when I do, more often than not, I end up disappointed. To me, this book was just okay, not something that kept me enthralled.
