A great read, the political commentary is communicated in an abstract, metaphorical fashion which really allows the message to transcend the decades. It engages with difficult topics of marginalization and identity but is ultimately very uplifting. The focus is on the transformative power of communities and radical acceptance of our loved ones at their best and worst. I loved it and so did my book club.
