What an incredible little book. It gives the reader a unique insight into LGBTQIA+ culture in the US back in the 60s and 70s. It brilliantly narrates the struggles of society's outcasts. It shames me to see that after so many decades of suffering, a large portion of this country's population wants to seee the clock turn back to these dark times.

being a member of the faggots and their friends between revolutions and existing in a time where queerness, especially transness, is increasingly policed and demonized made this hit in a way i cant quite describe yet beyond calling it a beautiful almost fable like story
adding to this. this story is deeply about culture. what it feels like to have your way of life prosecuted and demonized by the mainstream when in reality there is so much joy and beauty in the way you and your community exists. its about growth and resilience and not giving up who you are but understanding that survival and keeping each other safe is how you win. there are times to fight and times to meet brutality with brutality but ultimately giving and love will get us through. there is soso much more to say but this book is so perfect at delivering its message about how queerness is crass, vulgar, about kink, and counter culture and that is so beautiful. existing within that is beautiful. i love this book so very much
